Pain And Swelling In Foot With Morning Stiffness. Is It Due To Stress Fracture?

pain in my foot below my ankle, near the arch that started a week ago. Feels very tender, swelling, and by the end of the day from standing and walking, the pain is excruciating and there is redness. Have had about a year of morning stiffness in the same ankle, that usually subsides once I am moving about. This pain now does not go away, only worsens throughout the day. I can press on the spot and it provides momentary relief. Someone suggested plantar faciitis, or stress fracture. I am type 2 diabetic, but don't feel this is related to that.
