Hi, I am nursing mother my daughter is 3 months old and she is on EBF. since her birth I am feeling pain and burning sensation in my left breast. from last 3 weeks I have pus filled bump on my nipple. I am in great pain. doctor recommended me antibiotics which I took but no relive. now she has suggested me to go for ultrasound for cancer. please guide me what is it and how I get rid of pain and bump.
Sorry to hear about your problem. You are probably suffering from a lactational breast abscess, which needs to be treated with antibiotics and drainage of the pus. Sometimes a breast abscess can mimic a breast carcinoma as well and there is no harm in getting it evaluated by an ultrasound and a biopsy of the lump. You should visit a surgeon and have it evaluated immediately.
Hi and welcome to HCM.
This is obviously mastitis and is very common in confinement. YOu shouldnt be cocnerned about cancer. This is the last thing to think of. Mastitis and breast abscess are firstly treated by antibiotics. And this is usually enough. But sometimes it doesnt heal on such therapy so surgical incision and drainage is necessary. YOu can do ultrasounds to rule out malignancy, but I am sure this is mastitis or breast abscess.
WIsh you good health.
