Optic Nerve Swollen. On Roaccutane. Will It Return To Normal After Stopping Medication?

Hi Dr Grief
My daughter 17 yrs of age has been on Roaccutane since the 25th May 2012 1 20mg dose daily. A routine optomotrist visit found the optic nerve to be swollen. We were referred to an Optomologist. We have had one scan looking for calcium ? to determine that this is her genetic size. This has come back non conclusive. Now being sent for a MRI scan. I have ceased the drug as of last Saturday as it is thought this may have caused the swelling. She has had a few headaches but no nausea or vomiting. My question if this is the cause would the optic nerve return to a normal size having stopped the medication.
Thanks
Mary (Mother of Emma)

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Dear Mary,
Isotretinon(Roaccutance) does cause increase in intracranial pressure (benign intracranial hypertension) & cause swelling of the Optiic nerve. Such conditions usually resolve after discontinuation of the medication.
Please let me know her MRI report
Thank you
