Suboxone is one of the medication used to treat opioid dependance.
Usually people with opioid dependance use short acting opioids. this causes a lot of imbalance in the body. Everytime people try to quick on their own is very difficicult because of the withdrawal symptoms (flu like symptoms, shakiness, nausea, vomiting, etc).
that is why we don't try to take them right away from the drug. instead we try to stabilize their body by replacing the short acting opioid for a lon acting opioid agonist (suboxone).
Once patient is more stable and do not feel any withdrawal symptoms, next step is try to tapper the dose down. this process duration will change from person to person.
The goal again, is to bring the patient back to a good functional status. And with time maybe take him off the opioid.
Suboxone will help, however counseling is very important.
in some cases the person should consider to change playground, playmates and playthings. Because enviroment can affect rehabilitation.
I hope this helps.
Good luck
