Operated For Tarlov Cysts, Pain In Both Legs, Knees And Into The Groin Area.

Hello, I was operated on for 3 tarlov cysts that were on my sacral nerves , since then I have been diagnosed with one in my lumbar area. Not know if this one is symptomatic, if it is where would the symtoms affect? I looked it up somewhere at the time and can not find it now but it said it would affect my mid back and my neck. I have had pain in both spots since long before I knew about the cyst. My pain doctor said it would affect my left leg and did a nerve induction test which came up negative but I have had pain in both legs especially the fronts above the knees and into the groin area. Can you please advise?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have read your query and I would advise the following:

These cyst are usually benign ,if they are not increasing then you may not need to operate.
If cyst is causing nerve compression then you may decompress it.
So calculate you pain tolerance and risk of operation and then decide for operative procedure.

I hope that I have answered your query. Let me know if I can help you further.

Take care
