One of my pain Drs. Wants me to take Gabapentin for nerve pain, to replace 30 mgs./ Day of Morphine E.R. I am also on 4 mg. Oral Dilaudid 4x day. I have progressive, Extensive inflammatory Osteoarthritis, also had a bad accident in 1981 that shattered/ compound FX of my rt. femur & kne. My hands have old fractures, are crooked, bent, swollen, painful. I ve had 7 rt. Leg surgeries Inc. 3 knee replacements, change of angles & lengths in leg bones. I have very thin cartilage in shoulders, bone to bone arthritis in left hip w/ bursitis. I had Fibromyalgia but it disappeared after 7 Ketamine Infusions. I ve had radio-frequency ablation soon my neck, C-3,4,5,6,7, & have a few collapsed discs in mid & lumbar spine w/ intense sciatica in left thigh originating from lumbar discs w/ radiating pain. I am 61 yrs. Old, female, & grew up running, riding horses in jumping, Cross-country & training them. I was on school track team,etc I DON T want to take Gabapentin because of it s endless scary side effects. My daughter took it for a month w/ bad reactions. I ve taken so many NSAIDs, I have a hiatal hernia , chronic GERD, & a stomach ulcer. I do NOT ABUSE my medication,& in fact weaned myself off 280 mgs. Oxycontin before switching to this Dr. I will be getting ultrasound guided shots in my finger joints asap. &Discuss MRI results w/ my Dr. Re: my lumbar films. I would rather go off the Morphine & refuse the Gabapentin. What do you think ?
