On Klacid For Sinusitis. Sore Throat, Coughing Up Mucus. Have Acid Reflux. Are These Related?

Hi I was diagnosed with sinusitis on thursday and been giving a weeks prescription for the antibiotic Klacid. Yesterday I started to feel a bit better but today i woke up the the most painful sore throat and it didn t feel as if it was my head or nose as much anymore. I am also coughing a lot with mucus and sometimes dry and painful coughs. I just got a torch and looked into my throat and it looks as if something is sticking up behind my tongue which is extremely painful. I also suffer from acid reflux which last night was quite bad, could this be related? I looked up what the thing in my throat could be and it said it could be my epiglottis . how would this happen? is it normal that during this illness that it could happen? I have also been using neilmed sinus rinses which have been helping a great deal.

Hi,
That all are related to Upper and lower respiratory tract infection that is causing to cough and sputum.
The acid reflux is due to Klaricid that is found to cause acid production.
You should have complete treatment that includes a combination of more potent antibiotic with less effects on GI system such as Avelox 400mg,
The treatment includes a combination of
1. An antibiotic such as Avelox 400 mg once daily for 05 days.
2. An oral decongestant such as Loratidine and in cominabtion with pseudoephedrine by the name of Telfast D twice daily for 05 days.
3. An antitussive for cough such as Acefyl cough or sancos D 02 TSF thrice a day for 01 week.
4. An antacid such as omeprazole 40 mg before breakfast in the morning.
Also avoid yogurt, cold things and fried food.
Take good rest and soft diet.

I hope I am sucessful in solving your query If you have more you can ask me.
Take care
