Hi, my son s pediatrician told me that my son s iron levels were a little low and she gave me iron supplements to give him for 2 weeks. Thank you for your query,
Iron may be supplemented for 1 to 3 months depending on the iron stores.
Worm infestation if present, to be treated with antihelminthic drug as this might be cause of anemia.
Supplementation of other hematinics like vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin C to be added in addition to iron if there is no appropriate response.
Hope I have answered you query.
