On Chronic Macrobid For Regular UTI And Kidney Infections During Pregnancy

yes, I have been having issues the past couple of months and I trying to determine if I should see a specialist. I have Lupus and have always been very prone to kidney infections. Recently though I have been having a abnormal amount I have had 5 UTI/kidney infections since November 2nd. I currently am on chronic macrobid and I have been hospitalized 3 times in 2 months for IV antibiotics. I am 24 weeks pregnant and see a MFM. They put me on the chronic macrobid and it is only in the 24 hour growth tests that the Polymicrobial growth present consistent with urethral flora and/or colonizing bacteria shows up. They catherized me for the urine each time to make sure it was clean. I am in a lot of pain still and not feeling well today it is all in my back and left side. I am just not sure exactly what to do.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The persistent pain even after taking the antibiotics can be due to a uterine cause. This needs a direct examination to find out the cause.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
