Occasional Face Flushing On Cheeks. Doctor Recommended Taking Red Wine. Anything To Worry?
I have occasional face flushing on the cheeks which is so pronounced that it can't be covered by makeup. People are noticing. Someone even asked if I was embarrassed. I don't ordinarily drink but my doctor recommended that I drink a glass of red wine every day. I haven't been able to make myself do that very often. Once or twice a week. I did check that one wine I had drunk a glass of did contain sulfites. Another did not. I am not sure that it is connected with drinking. Should I be concerned.
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. From your description, you seem to be having rosacea. It is a condition characterized by flushing, redness, papules and pustules. The common triggering factors for this are sunlight, hot beverages, spicy foods, extreme emotions and alcohol. Alcohol consumption can definitely worsen your flushing. I would suggest that you use a sunscreen every 4 hours. Avoid above mentioned triggering factors. Topical metronidazole and retinoids help to some extent. Hope this helped. Take care.
