Oblique Non Displaced Fracture On Fifth Metatarsal, Pain, Stiffness, No Swelling. Self-healing?

I have been diagnosed with an oblique non displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal, I had been put on an air cast since diagnosis for 2 weeks. there is still an ache and stiffness but no swelling . would the bone heal by itself without surgical intervention and if so how long before I can resume wearing normal shoes and physical activity?

Hallo
Thanks for your query. You had a stable fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone.Since you have already been given a air cast there is no need to go for surgery as it is a undisplaced fracture. The slight pain is bound to be there till the callus is formed which normally takes 6-8 weeks .Till then you have to carry on with cast.
I find this answer helpful
