Obese, have irregular and scanty periods. Which birth control methods are advisable?

hello doctor, i am 30 years old, i am an obese, my periods are irregular and scanty,i have a 2 year old daughter. doctor plz suggest which is the best way to avoid pregnancy? if contraceptive pills, then which is the best one? then how to consume? and how long to consume? is copper t useful? thanks awaiting for ur reply regards, nisha

hI Nisha. The best way to avoid pregnancy is oral contraceptive pills ,but taken regularly.If you are obese then you can take pills like Yasmin only after consulting a dr. and before all contraindications to its use have been ruled out.It is to be taken on day 1 of your cycle and continuously for 21 days at the same time. in next 7 day free interval you get your periods and start next pack again after 7 days. So, 3 weeks on and 1 week off.You may take it as long as you want to avoid pregnancy and it suits you.
copper T is also useful and can be safely used for 5 years or 10 years. No weight gain
