Numbness On One Side Of Face, Feeling Of Something Down The Ear. Could That Be Causing Numbness?

Could having something stuck in my ear affect nerves? I suffer with a numb/ weak right hand side of face and have noticed that I ve felt like there s something down this ear. Only today has my brother looked in it and confirmed that he can see something there. Is there a chane that it could be causing the numbness and weakness?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello and welcome to HCM,

Let me first mention to you that our body is an island of miracles and anything can happen and you will be amazed. So a swelling in the ear may cause numbness anywhere in the body.

Having said that let me also mention that only the nerve which gives supply to the muscles of the face is intimately related to the ear (called the facial nerve) while the nerve of sensation called the trigeminal nerve is not very close to the ear.

In either case you need to get a complete ENT examination and also undertake an Imaging study to better help you out with your symptoms

take care and get well soon
