Numbness, Itching, Burning And Painful Under The Skin. Why Do I Feel So ?

For the past several weeks I've been feeling this numb, kind of burning, painful and itchy sometimes under my skin, at my right hip! It started one day when I woke up and I realized that I had slept wrong and it has been bothering me ever since. What bothers me the most is the burn sensation under my skin, because it is very painful and the there was a little rash in some places, but in most of my hip area there is nothing, so I really don't understand why my skin feels this way? I thought It was just a pinched nerve!

Dermatologist Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,

As per your query you feel numbness, itching, burning and painful sensation under the skin at hip joint.
As per your query it appears that you are suffering from "Meralgia paresthetica". This is a specific condition of nerves where we feel the kind of sensation you described. It is because of the compression of the nerves a the hip joint and front of thigh area.
For the betterment you can follow the instructions below:
- Take rests in between periods of standing or walking or other aggravating activities
- Lose your weight.
-Do some exercise to strengthen abdominal muscles which can be done by lying down.
- Wear loose clothing.
- Apply heat or ice
- At the maximum you can take pain killer medications for 7–10 days
Reducing physical activity in relation to pain level. Acute pain may require absolute bed rest
The pain part may take weeks to months to stop. So if you feel more of the problem then it is better to consult a neurologist for the best guidance.

Hope to have provided the helpful informations regarding your problem.
With good health wishes"
