Numbness In Throat, No Feeling Of Saliva Going Down, Urge To Flex Throat Muscles. On Nasal Decongestant For 40 Years. Side Effects?
I have been using nasal decongestant for forty years. Can this affect my throat because for the past 6 months it feels numb, like when you have novocaine from the dentist . No trouble swallowing but I feel like I can't feel the saliva going down and I feel like I have to keep flexing the muscles in my throat and it gets exhausting.

most common side effect of chronic use of nasal decongestant is dryness of nasopharynx and posterior pharynx. There is a condition called rhinitis medicamentosa where dryness occurs in these areas. Please visit an ENT specialist to find a permanent cure and stop using these decongestants.
