Noticed Swelling & Numbness Near The Injection Site Of Meth Intake

I injected meth into my left arm this morning, a small ammount using a clean needle a freshly opened bottle of water and a cotton filter after washing my hands and arms. I dont do this often and usually hit on the vein on the inside of my wrist. Im pretty sure I did not miss but I noticed several hours later that there was some slight swelling around the inection site, and as the day progressed my wrist seems to have a bit of numbness to it aswell. It's starting to worry me a little but I am not sure if it is a local infection or blood born. Advice? I dont think it's E.R. worthy since I feel fine nearly 20 hrs post injection.

Hi,

I do not think it is an infection, whether local or blood-borne. It seems some of the drug was extravasated and the tissues surrounding the vein reacted to the presence of a foreign chemical. This caused the swelling. It should be gone in a few days by itself.

Best wishes.
