hello and welcome to HCM,
Why you need to go for an MRI
with a dye injected when a simple plain CT can diagnose what is the problem causing your smell loss!!
do the following:
1. CT of the nose and PNS and the brain to rule out any mass lesions and also to know the state of the sinuses
. If the sinuses are blocked or inflamed or polypoidal or if the septum is very deviated then you may have some degree of smell loss. All these can be effectively treated by an expert ENT surgeon.
2. Get a complete blood profile including thyroid
profile and perform a smell test using the smell identification test
3. Try having a healthy diet with lots of vegetables and also try steam inhalation
the pain also can be due to the sinuses
take care and get well soon

ps:In many cases if the nerves are weak or injured then the recovery is delayed or not possible so bear that in mind
