No Periods For Years, In Post Menopause. Sudden Bleeding From Uterus, D&C Done, Report Awaited. Cause?

my mother is 51 & is in post menopause. she did not have her periods for 4 years. suddenly she had bleeding and the doc confirmed it was from the uterus and suggested a d&c and we are waiting for our biopsy result . meanwhile the blood test results came back. cea blood test was in normal range but ca 125 is 41. i am not sure if she has any fibroids. worried about it . can you let me know if this is somethin to worry & possible causes for ca 125 elevation?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Usually at postmenopausal age group, elevated CA 125 levels can be seen in conditions like:
-Fibroids
-Benign cysts or tumors of ovary.
-Liver or breast tumors
-Malignant tumors of uterus, ovary etc.
But don't worry, just by elevated levels of CA 125 we cannot come to one conclusion.
Let her D&C report come, hope for the best.
Take care.
