Newborn. Loss Of Breath, Purple Lips Due To Constant Crying Corrected By Hitting The Back. Lowered Pressure To 80. Common?

My new born son was getting tested for PKU and while he was crying he lost his breath and his lips turned purple. The nurse immediately turned him on his back and started hitting his back to get him crying again. This happened 4 times in about 8 minutes and his pressure went down to 80.

Is this a common thing for new born babies and are you supposed to let them cry for a long time? Or put ur finger to suck on to avoid the baby from crying and loosing breath?

Any advise would be highly appreciated

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
It could be breathing hold spell which is common among the newborn babies, if it is there then no need to worry but how to tackle such episode you need to discus it with the pediatrician, putting a finger in mouth of bay for sucking is most danger thing and never be practice, in such act chances of trauma and the infection is very high take care your kid have nice day.
