I had a concussion from a head injury over three years ago and months after the injury I was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome. I have very unusual, sometimes debilitating headaches that occur one to three times a month. They only occur on the injury side of the head and are not migraines. The pain has a sudden onset, waxing and waning in intensity for as little as six hours, but as much as 48 hours. The pain feels like a searing or grinding sensation that travels along a single line, moving around from a single point around where my skull impacted. I used to have migraines, but haven t had a single one since the accident. There is nausea and sometimes vomiting. I had my eyes checked about a year ago and the doctor dismissed any occular conditions as the origins of the headaches. Oftenwith these headaches I have a lot of drainage from the sinuses on that side of the face. If these are merely sinus headaches, they are many times more severe than anything I had experienced prior to the injury. Should I see a neurologist for this or is this just a long term post-concussion symptom?
