Need Medication For Itching And Swelling On Both Feet

I recently had a bad cycle of itching on both feet, due to eczema. I scratched the side of my right foot so much that I opened up the skin. Two days later, I noticed that on the right side of my foot above where I was scratching, started to get very tender and red. The next day the whole top of my foot was completely swollen and red. I am now on day 5 of Keflex, 5oo mg, 2 tablets, two times a day. The swelling is still there, along with the redness and tenderness. I have 5 more days of the antibiotics to take. Why is it taking so long to go away? It has not gotten any worse.

Hi,
You are now suffering from Right foot cellulitis secondry to scratching due to eczema. Whether or not the antibiotic that you are taking is working can be best judged by looking your foot before and after the start of antibiotic and the culture and sensitivity of any pus , if there. The possibility of MRSA (Methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus) is still there, so it best advisable to have culture and sensitivity of any pus in the wound and of the blood.
