Need Medication For Fluttering Muscle Spasm In Lower Esophagus
Hi, I ve been having this fluttering/muscle spasm feeling in my throat/lower esophagus? It just started happening about two nights ago and only occurs at nighttime. I ve gone to my doctor a few times for acid reflux related issues but I m hoping this doesn t have anything to do with my heart or something?
It is understandable to be concerned about the possibility of the symptoms being heart related however if they occur occur at night and not during the day when you are up and active, it is unlikely that they are heart related.
The heart works more when a person is active and in heart disease, at least in the initial stages, this is the time that symptoms occur.
If you wish to rule out heart disease , however, your doctor may consider an ECG which would look at the rate and rhythm of the heart. It can also check for areas with reduced blood supply.
Symptoms of reflux tend to be worse at night or in the early am. In addition, some persons with reflux can experience spasm of the esophagus.
It is possible this is the cause of your discomfort
I hope this helps
