Need Medication For Urinary Tract Infection

Hello, I was diagnosed with having a UTI which my doctor said was very stubborn because I had about a count of 1,000,000 of a bacterial infection. I was on Cipro for 5 days but felt no improvement, so he switched me to bactrim ds 800 mh twice a day for 7 days. There is no burning or pain yet I still feel a tingly sensation in urethra after I urinate and it lingers all day. Im on my 6th day of the bactrim. Is this normal? Do I need more time on the antibiotic? Could the urgency/tingly feeling be caused by something else. Been in a monogamous relationship for 7 y years and have done a full test for STDs all negative.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
You can get a urine test to know the status of infection whether urinary tract infection is still present or not.
If the infection is not present, you can sure that the antibiotic is effective and your infection is clearing.
In case the infection is still present and is not improving, you need to consult your doctor for repeat culture and drug susceptibility to identify the most appropriate antibiotic.
Thus, the first step is to get urine routine examination.

Thanks and take care
