Need Help In Finding The Right Diet For A Premature Baby. Breast Milk Not Sufficient
Hello Doctor, I am a father of a premature baby boy. He was Born in 8 months. he is now 2.7Kgs. We started giving him Lactogen-1, as my wife does not have sufficient to feed him. Could you please recommend which is good for my son. Lactogen-1 Nan-1 Enfamal I am very very confused. Please Advise. Thanks,

There are no studies in comparing the effectiveness of the above mentioned products . But it's proven that even little amounts of breast milk is highly nutritious for your baby 100 percent better than any artificial feeds so feed boy with breast milk as much possible especially because he is prefers baby.
Usually recommend NAN 1 as i find babies better adjusting to it , and don't change feed brands often .continue giving one brand.

I have gone through your question. There are many formula feeds in the market which help in supplementing breast milk. First are the most basic ones like Lactogen 1 and others are little premium ones like NAN PRO1 or Enfamil with added DHA and extra supplements. I would suggest if cost is not a problem you can go for the premium ones.
Secondly i would strongly recommend that mother should continue breast feeding regularly and formula feed to be used as supplement only.
Thirdly for mother to have more milk it is advisable that she drinks lots of water[2.5 L/day] and have nutritious food.
