Need Advise On Non-displaced Hairline Knee Fracture.

After an x-ray & MRI, my 86 year-old mother was diagnosed with a "non-displaced hairline fracture" of the knee. This injury occurred about 3 weeks ago - What should she do while we wait to see an orthopedist? Should the knee be immobilized? Should she stay off of it ?

Hi
Thanks for your query
After going through suffering, even a hair line fracture needs immobilization to preevent displacement and she should not stand or put weight on that limb. So,my advise would be give her knee immobolizer belt for 4-6 weeks time and she should take balanced diet rich in calcium (1000mg/day) and vitamin D (1000 i.u. /day) along with vitaminB12, B6.
I hope this information will be helpful and I shall be glad to answer further.
Take care
