Need Advice On Diet Change For An Infant

My grandson is approx 16 lb. Just over 3 months...feed almost entirely on breast milk . Mom starting to feel all she does is feed him as he still nurses 6-8 times a day, sleeps well from 11 to 7 or later...they are wondering about starting pablum. I am wondering about apple juice as well. Seems like I started my daughter on apple juice early. Cate

Hello...
Breast feed is complete food for your baby..up to 6 month to 1 year.(we can not compare breast milk with any other artificial food).

Why Complementary Feeding?
1.     To give extra nutrient to the baby because the breast milk become inadequate, according to
his nutrient demand
2.     To teach him to swallow solids. Start with dilute semisolid, and gradually increase the thickness every week, and slowly go on solid.

When to start weaning:
1.     After 6 month, breast milk is definitely inadequate.
2.     After 6 month intestinal amylase levels are adequate .and gut mucosal integrity is satisfactory.

I would advice;
After completing 4 month you can start orange juice/ tomato soup according to tolerance.

Thanks for using Health Care magic, Keep in touch

Thanks
i wish your child good health
