Neck pain, feeling of lump in throat above clavical

Hi there, for the past two days I have noticed that my neck has been bothering me. Today my mother asked me if I could feel any lumps in my throat , and at first I didnt but when I began to feel around, I felt a golf ball sized lump on the right side of my throat on the lower part right above the clavical, and almost directly underneath the sternum. I am VERY worried about what this may be... I have two small boys, and I dont want to think the worst, but I need some help, and possible answers! Should I go see a doctor right away, or wait a few days to see if it goes away??!! Should I be worried?? Could this be cancerous??

Oncologist, Surgical 's  Response

A swelling near the throat close to sternum may be either a lymph node or enlarged thyroid gland. The best person to go now is to a surgeon who will decide on your treatment. FNAC may be done to exclude cancer. You must visit the surgeon asap. Should never delay anymore.....

you should go to a doctor immediately and get the FNAC of the lump to confirm the diagnosis. There is no benefit in waiting
