Neck And Shoulder Pain, Edema At The Base Of Skull. Consult Doctor?
My husband was complaining of neck and shoulder pain. I massaged him. I felt a big knot at the base of his skull the size of a walnut. Tonight, it's the size of an egg and there is at least 1+ edema. Extremely painful. He says it feels like an inside pimple. I think it is very sore muscles that have been unknotted. Should I take him to dr? He says he is nauseous and dizzy.

Since the swelling is big and is producing symptoms, he needs consultation with a doctor. He will need further tests on the swelling. The tests can include an ultrasound of the swelling, a CT scan of the brain, etc. He will need tests for edema too.
