Nasal Congestion, Yellow Watery Mucus, Eye Discharge. Treatment?

Yesterday morning my son woke up with a runny, plugged up nose . The mucous very watery and clear with occasional chunky dark yellows clumps. His nose is running out of his right nostril and also his right eye has been watery also! His nose and eye are running pretty bad today and when he talks you can tell he s very congested. What can this be and what can I do to make him feel better! He starts school Wednesday! Help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear customer,

It seems that he is suffering from viral infection which may or may not be associated with secondary bacterial infection.

You may give him antihistamine drugs like benadryl, cetrizine which will help him in his symptoms.

The oral antibiotics like augmentin may be given to prevent the secondary bacterial infection. It may take 2-3 days for the symptoms to cure completely.

Thank you
