hello my husband is in saver pain he claims that his uvula is butchering him he has spots on it and it hurts him when he talks swallows when he eats warm food he is very much in pain what doctor should i seek to see ?a doctor that is a spaicelist in treating the uvula
For the treatment of lesion on uvula, you can either visit an oral surgeon or an ENT specialist as it comes under the field of oral cavity and throat, both.
Painful swollen uvula is more often a sign of infection or some allergic reaction and there might be nothing to worry about. However, it is better to visit an expert for physical examination of the lesion. Your husband can take painkillers available over the counter to get temporary relief in pain till you visit an expert.Acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg may work if he is not allergic to NSAID group of medicines. Do not do hot water gargles or heat application from outside until the cause of the pain is ascertained.
