What Medical Condition Causes Severe Pain In The Throat And Difficulty In Swallowing?

My throat hurts when I swallow only on one side. It has been 10 days or more. At first I thought it was a sore throat, but I have no other symptoms. Some days hurts more than others but doesn t seem to go away. Only feel pain when I swallow. I had thyroid nodes biopsied about a year and a half ago on the same side..all negative.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to tonsillitis. For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen. Continue steam inhalation and Betadine gargle twice a day. In case of fever, you may require antibiotics after ENT consultation. Take hygienic food and water. Keep your self hydrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam Kale
