My Son Has Extropia. Will Glasses Help In Curing Extropia Permanently ?

I needed advice from you regarding my son s eye condition. He is 5+yrs old and goes to kindergarten, In the month of March suddenly we started noting drifting in one of his eyes so we went to pediatric opthomologist and as per is dignosis it was found that he has myopia/nearsighted (Left -2.25, Right -2.50) and the drifting is caused by that and so he adviced us to get him glasses that would help in controlling and correcting his drifting problem. My queries are: 1) Does glasses really control and cure drifting (exotropia) permanently. 2) Is there some auyurvedic medicine or some exercises that we can do with him to cure his exotropia At present we are doing following exercises a) pencil push ups b) near far point focusing I would really appreciate it if you could take out some time and answer my above queries. Thanks,

hi from the above history the diagnosis of exotropia ,a type of outward squint is lack of coordination of all the 6 muscles of the eye.the treatment which you are giving is vision therapy and glasses have no role in exotopia .the choice of treatment is surgical for strabismus ,after which he will be given glasses .it has got good results if usually done before the age of school .
take care thank you

Exotropia cannot be corrected by any medication , by giving glasses the information given doesn't suffice , you need to tell the visual acuity also how much is the correction with the glass , by doing the exercises mentioned by you you cannot avoid a surgery , the most imp q to be answered why did the child get exotropia is the cause refractive or non refractive , as this also helps us to prognosticate when the surgery should be done n what will be the outcome

This type of exotropia is very well controlled by glasses.nothing is controLled permanently. His myopia will keep changing almost every year till he is about 21.In the meanwhile you have to have almost yearly followup.Increasing power will control exotropia.Pen to nose exercise will help.
