My Resting Heart Rate Of 108 Bpm.Why It Is Like This?

Hello, I am 19 years old, 6 1, 180 lbs, and I have a very low body fat percentage. In other words I am very strong and very athletic. As for my concern, I have a resting heart rate of 108. My piers who are equally as athletic tend to have resting heart rates of 45-60 bpm. My question is, should I be worried? I do have anxiety issues and have had multiple anxiety attacks in the past couple of years but to be honest I never had them addressed. Could it be anxiety effecting my high heart rate? Or perhaps something else? Thanks.

hi,
welcome to healthcaremagic forum
since you are a good athlet your heart rate should be low here the increase in heart rate can be due to anxiety.but it is better to do a TFT(thyroid function test),becoz in hyperthyroidsm there will be tachycardia,if tft normal then consult a cardiologist.

definately your anxity ltself seems to the cause, do you sweat more durin rest?,having difficulty in concentrating? can you maintin good energy level in day time? what abt your sleep pattren? are you feel fatigue?these are all counts to say that your anxity has recurrence&relapses &chanses that can run long way in your life unless diagnoised properly at this age, consult physican first to get done thyroid function tests.do some breathing exersises for time being.gud luk.
