What Natural Remedies Can I Try For Tingling Sensation In The Feet Along With Partial Imbalance While Having Diabetic Neuropathy?

My question centers on diabetic neuropathy...tingling in my feet especially in bed at night. With poor vision and the tingling and numbness in my feet, my footing isn’t at its best. What natural remedies do you suggest. I take Metformqpan but am not on Insulin (thank God). I eat with awareness, avoiding sweets and most high carbs. Thank you

Hello,

With diabetic neuropathy, it is essential to keep your blood sugar in control first and foremost. As far as the numbness and tingling goes, opt for a topical lotion that contains capsaicin such as Qutenza. It is a prescription ointment, ask your doctor for it. For balance, check out your local physical therapist for balance routines.

Sometimes, just practicing standing still for a few moments with your eyes closed while practicing focused breathing will help your balance. Make sure you have a chair handy to steady yourself should you wobble. Taking nutrients like alpha lipoic acid may also help as it is a good antioxidant. Take daily for relief of tingling.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Dr Jagdish Vishnoi's  Response
Hi,

It’s mostly vitamin B12 deficiency, get it checked first. Long term use of Metformin may lead to serum B12 deficiency. Also, the imbalance you mentioned sometimes may be warning symptom of other neurological conditions. Further causes should be found out rather than searching for alternative remedies on your own!

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
