Hi!!!! Welcome to healthcare magic community forum...
What type of hysterectomy (removal of uterus) is being planned?
Both myomectomy (removal of the fibroid and not uterus) and hysterectomy (removal of uterus) are available for fibroid treatment.
Now, that removal of uterus is decided as the course of treatment, the side effects /complications that are expected depends on the type of hysterectomy. (There are 3 forms of hysterectomy).
In general, side effects that occur are bleeding and infections. Perimenopausal symptoms can occur if ovaries are removed along.
Discuss with your gynecologist, and know about the type of hysterectomy that is to be performed.

Hi. My mom has also undergone hysterctomy. Her uterus was removed. The surgery went well and there were no complications, though she had to take bed rest for about 2 weeks. I know couple of more women who have had hysterctomy with no complications. I believe the surgery is quite common nowadays and there are no complications in the hands of an experienced gynecologists. Im sure your mom will do very well. Don't worry.
