My husband has been developing swallowing problems and he has one foot that twitches. He says he knows he's doing it but doesn't have control over it. When I bring it to his attention he stops but it starts again. It twitches and jerks during the day while his feet are up and watching tv or while laying in bed. He also has been pumping the gas peddle when he drives. It is only in his right foot.

My 91 year old mother in- law had a stroke 10 days ago. She is 5 ft about 98 pounds with no prior medical conditon It was a full stroke on the left side of the brain. She is paralized on her right. She also developed a upper respitory infection which was cured by antibiotics, She can not swollow as of now .The doctors had trouble inserting a feeding tube due to a hiatial hernia. However in the end the were able to place the tube. Mom sleeps all the time .However the last few days she opened her eyes for a few seconds and now were up to about 12 minutes or a little longer . I dont think she recognizes me of my husband. She does follow simple commands such as squeezing our hand, And twice she repeated what and no when asked. Is there any hope of her being able to swallow on her own again and being more alert. We get so many different stories from the doctors to the nurses to the specialists. We can except that mom will never be the same but we want to know if she can still more signs of improvement after 10 days.

So I ended up in the ER last night (symptoms started about 22 hours ago, I went in about 19 hours ago) as I started having what turned out to be an allergic reaction. I was taking a bunch of different medicines for cold such as Robitussin and Advil Cold Sinus (not overlaping much, though) and started having trouble swallowing mechanically, though I could swallow food and water. I also started developing dry mouth. It caused me to have a mild panic attack. I also developed a rash on my shoulders neck and face. They put me on steroids and Benedryl and discharged me a few hours later. The problem I am having is that I still am having trouble swallowing and have dry mouth, and it s scary as I keep worrying it will get worse and my throat will close up. The doctors at the ER didn t seem very concerned, but is there a way to make the swallowing problems and dry mouth go away? I keep panicking and really want to get some sleep.

I have had swallowing problems for years. Small bits of food stick in my throat almost every time I eat. I have had multiple swallow tests, always negative. Went to a laryngologist, found no cause. Have had throat stretched twice, didn t help. I read an article about a bacteria that causes the throat to become sticky, causing food to stay in throat. Is this possible, if so how do I find out if this might be my problem. So far no mechanical reason can be found.
