My husband and I have had a deep cold for about 11 days now. We're at the end of the cold, but we have developed severe, uncontrollable coughing fits that end in vomiting up foam. We still have some phlegm and I have asthma and am using all of those meds per dr.s' instructions. This cough is like one we've never had. Sometimes we cough normally, get up or out some plegm, then, a few seconds or a minutes passes then a gag reflex sits in and we cough so deeply and them foam comes from out throat. Sometimes this is accompanied by nausea. We get rid of that round and settle down and eventually it starts over. This is NOT just a cold! Do we need to be tested for whooping cough? Is everyone still vaccinated for lifetime for that as a child? I am 67 and husband is 54.
