It can be due to both (stress and hereditary), kindly consult your doctor immediately, as it runs in your family.

i am a 44 yr old female with high cholesterol in the upper 200 s, i am 5 5 and weight 200lbs. i was diagnosed with having 60% carotied artery blockage.... i had a lexi scan done with negative results. i have had a lung scan done with & without dye with negative results, an upper GI with negative results. my question is this: each time i walk a distance or do something physical i get a burning sensation in the base of my neck where one would put a trach tube, this burning will continue up both left/right sides of my neck and then proceede to the middle of my chest, if i take the time out to rest it will go away if do not it get worse and worse until i can t stand it. i have had numerous tests done with no results my old primary doctor insisted this was an anxiety attack but this never happens with stress only physical activity and it is now even starting to happen during sexual intercourse. does anyone know what could be happening to me? i feel like giving up and letting nature take its course.... could this be because of the heart trying to pump the blood through my carotid arteries and when it meets the resistance (clogged area) it is back flowing causing this pain?

sure I have a lot of stress in my life, as many of us do, I have been experiencing rapid heat beat, even when resting. Sometimes I feel pressure in my chest as my heart feels like if going to jump out of my chest! I have consulted with my physician, and am currently wearing a heart halter for 48 hrs, next step is a stress test. My concern is or could this be related to stress? I am currently 52 yrs old employed female at 5 3 125 pounds. active life style... I just ran upstairs and my heart is racing/ and felt weak ?

My name is Staci and I just turned 45 in December. I have my period regularly and no signs of Menopause so far. I sometimes get heart palpitations off and on during PMS and Menstrual Cycle. I was told this was hormones. I am under an unusual amount of stress right now at work, and financially at home. I have OCD, anxiety, and high amounts of stress in my life. I am however, very productive and busy with work and family. I take 80 m of Prozac per day for the past 20 or so years- helps well with the OCD. I take up to 2 m Xanax at evening time for past 16 years, and Prilosec for acid re-flux. This week I started experiencing heart palpitations on a daily basis every half hour or so just sitting at work or on the go. I am PMSing but have never experienced this many palpitations before and so constant. Could this be stress along with PMS and hormones? or should I see a doctor? My BP is normal (low) and cholesterol normal (low) with no known health problems. I exercise 2 days per week and am very active. I am 5.1 177lbs. Can you give some input on this? I am guessing it is stress related- work is very stressful right now- more than usual, and with money being a worry at home it is very stressful! I can feel the stress in my body! But have to work to provide. What do you suggest? Thanks, Staci -I am sorry I just saw that this site requires that I pay money in order to get some advise. I cannot afford to pay as I am overdrawn in my account. Thank you anyway. Staci
