My grandson is 5 and has had intermittent diarrhea for 4 weeks. It will stop for 3-4 days then return. The Dr has done feces testing and we have eliminated dairy. He can home again with diarrhea tiredness and fever. He does not always have fever just when it began and again now. The Dr wants to continue eliminating foods for now. What else could it be/

Doctor, Subject: Grandson has ongoing bouts of constipation since 8 mo old. He is now 3 years-10 months and still is being treated by taking a prescribed laxative and a special diet. He is still battling the issue though. Either severe bouts of diarrhea or constipation. He is all of 28 lbs and catches any visus or illness daycare dishes out. My Question is: Why won t his Physician test him and see what the real problem is instead of just treating the symptoms for so long. The child is under-weight, under-height and it s plain to see his body don t seem to be getting the nutrients it needs from what he does eat. He is ahead as for comprehension and skills for his age though.

I have a nice healthy 7 yr old grandson. He has always had bowel accidents. My son and daughter-in-law have taken him to doctors but maybe haven t been totally honest about the issue. He does not have a movement for 3-5 days then he moves and his stool is the size of a baseball then pasty, then a full blown diarrhea clean out. This has happened at school and some social situations causing him extreme stress and I believe psychological damage.

My 6 year old boy has been having intermittent diarrhea since we came back from Cuba on vacation. He has not had fever, or vomiting. Has has lost his appetite a bit but not dramatically. He is in a good mood. When we were in Cuba he did a lot of swimming in a swimming pool and may have swallowed some water....The watery stools are not very frequent but when they happen (a few times a week) have a funny, watery and flaky look. Any idea of what might it be?
