My Grandmother's Bones Were Deteriorating. Please Suggest A Remedy

my grandmother went to the doctor about her hips and legs. The doctor told her that there was nothing to be done because the bones were deteriorating. She can still walk and get around for the most part. She is overweight and is a type 2 diabetic. From what i understand about her case if she lost weight and exercised right she could reverse her diabetes . Could the same be said about her bones or is the doctor correct?

With old age, bone lose the strength..they become brittle and are at risk of breaking with small hurts..She should lose wiegh of she is overweight, cos it will help her diabetis status as well as help her not to put lot of load on bones..
