I assume you saw an orthopedic surgeon for this? My first suggestion would be to see a podiatrist, one who specializes in only the feet. There are many different types of treatments for plantar fascitis but I would want to perform a thorough history and physical examination and take xrays to make sure there isn't something else being overlooked.
If you are
overweight then
weight loss is in order. Stay away from hi impact exercises like running, jogging. Swimming or using a cross trainer is much less traumatice. Stretching exercises, ice, proper shoegear and a custom pair of arch supports should be of benefit.
Some people benefit from
physical therapy and/or
cortisone injections. Most people do not need surgery for this condition and I would treat my patient for atleast 6 months conservatively before recommending surgical intervention.
I hope this has been helpful for you.
