My Daughter Has No Temperature, Fishy Smelling Urine, Could It Be A Urinary Tract Infection?
Hi my daughter is 6 years old and post two liver transplants and suffers short bowel syndrome. She has kidney damage from reflux into her kidneys and previous urine infections. At the minute she has no temperature but has had fishy smelling urine for past two days. Could it be a urinary tract infection? She is on nitrofurintoin as prophylaxis for uti's. Many thanks
Hello, Your daughter has kidney damage and previous history of urinary tract infections. With these predisposing factors and fishy smelling urine I will definitely advice you to rule out urinary tract infection. Most urinary tract infections are associated with fever but not all. And nitrofurantoin prophylaxis is not 100% effective. So urinary tract infection is a possibility. Hope that answers your query. Wishing you good luck. Regards, Dr. Preeti
