I am a 53 yo female worried about having a heart attack. I have at times had pain in my ribs on my right side that travels towards my spine. Usually, Advil or Bayer aspirin helps the discomfort. For the past week, this mid back pain seems to be coming through to the upper center abdomen. I had taken several 500 mg bayer aspirin over a couple day period so I don t know if I just irritated my stomach or if this is heart related. I have no shortess of breath, dizziness or sweating. I was taking Metroprolol (25 mg 2x daily) and also had Lisinoprol added (one 5mg daily) as I had a echocardiogram which showed a slight enlargement on the left side of my heart. My total cholesterol is high at 250, my HDL is good at 63. My doctor hasn t put me on medication - trying to get it down by diet (I am overweight). While I feel some discomfort in my chest, am I worrying needlessly? I know an echocardiogram doesn t show blocked arteries but, could it be assumed after watching the blood flow to/from the heart that there could be blockages? Should I rest easier knowing that I ve just had the echo and my dr didn t seem needlessly concerned?
Hi doctor, my dad had an heart attack 3 weeks back , had an angioplasty and a stent was put in LAD that was 99 percent blocked and now there r still 2 more vessels with branches that are 80 percent blocked ... My dad has diabetes from 25 years and hypertension from 10 years and also has kidney disease ( kidney function is 50%) .. He has no pain in chest no breathing problem no symptom at all , he is walking 30 minutes regularly and 2 days back eko was taken which showed 55% ejaction rate ... He is on plavix , aspirin , nitro and few more for blood pressure and cholestrol ... Now the question is what should be our next step , I visited few doctors and they all recommend bypass surgery where as one of the cardiosurgeon was not sure whther bypass will benefit more or risk more , ao he thought of taking medicine and healthy diet and exercise approach , plss i need ur advice whether he should or this major bypass surgery or just carry on with healthy lifestyle because he has no problem no pain nothing
my friend is male, 58 yrs. Had a heart attack 3 yrs ago and had a bypass. He had a mild heart attack last month no bypass.Today at his check up his cardio. dr. said that he has an 80% blockage in 4 artries not counting the ones bypassed 3yrs ago. These blockages are in places where there is a 75% chance that an operation would kill him, according to the dr. The dr said that my friend is a walking time bomb, gave him 6-8 months and added that stress, strain, physcial exertion could cause it to happen quicker.I know diet and exercise are very important in keeping a healthy heart. Is there ANYTHING my friend can do except wait?
Hi, My father is 63 years old. 2 days back he suffered a chest pain for a long time when he was walking for quite sometimes. He did some chest examinations and after he was shown a cardiologist he told that apart from a blockage in heart there is a small miocadial infarction.
I don't stay with him and i really don't know what is the his health condition and what is the immediate doable for him.
He is fine now. Some medicines are given. I don't understand was it a heart attack because the doctor haven't told like that.
I stay in Bangalore and is in Kolkata. Pls suggest the immediate doable and places where treatments would be good.
My father in law has had 3 heart attacks. This last one has left him with only 10 percent heart functioning. Surgery is out of the question. He has one completely blocked artery, one that is 80 percent blocked. He is being sent home with oxygen. what is the prognosis?
