My both ears started paining while using ear phones

Hi i am a music lover. I usually listen songs via ear phones. But for past few months my both ears started paining while using ear phones. I consulted doctors but still having pain. I cannot listen songs even in low volume. Somebody please help. Thanks Thanks for your information. I already did audiometry and temporal bone tests and the results shows nothing to worry. Even my doctor also told everything is fine and advise to avoid earphones. But i would like to use earphones to listen music in my office. Thanks again.

Dear thanks for query, prolonged use of ear phones is definitely not advised. This can lead to the problems like you have of pain, some foreign sounds in ear etc. Please avoid using them for a while. The doctor must have checked you ears for any problem and if they are fine there is no need to worry. Please take a brake for some time and you will be fine.this is common now a days with too much use of ear phones, hands free sets etc.

ENT Specialist Dr. Naveen Kumar's  Response
Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum,
The ear pain you are getting while using earphones is because the phone plugs are pressing over the cartilage of the external ear rather than by sound itself. This constant pressing of the plugs over the cartilage causes reduced blood supply to cartilage and hence inflammation, leading to pain. I would advice you to refrain from using earphones and try using headphones. If you feel the same pain, then it is wise to stop using any ear appliances.
Take care

Dr. Naveen Kumar

Last night I went to bed, and within a few minutes I felt an almost flush feeling in my ear. I got up to look in the mirror and had blood running down the side of my face coming from my ear. I tried to clean it and soaked up approx. 10-15 q tips, before it seemed to be clean. Went back to bed within 5 minutes it happened again, mire blood running from ear. If I put a q tip in my ear now there is still some bood but not as much as before. I haven t had any injury, haven t been exposed to loud noise, no flights, scuba, swimming or other pressure or temp changes. Was not picking or cleaning it, and only used q tips after it started bleeding. Also no pain, although now does feel a bit like I have been swimming and got water in my ear but I haven t. Any idea what might be causing this? Thank you in advance for an help -Maggie

My husband is 45, very healthy (5' 11", appx 160 lbs), has recently (the last 2 months) developed hives and facial edema in response to high stress. Last night developed a large (diameter appx 1.5-2 inch) hard, painful lump behind his right ear (over temporal bone, NOT mastoid). Has another, smaller lump (appx .5 inch) at hairline below larger lump. Wondering what the possibilities are.

Hello. I m 24 yrs old, female. 5 days ago, I was playing mixed football and unfortunately happened to collide with one of the bigger guys on our team. Completely accidental, but his knuckle belted me on my head, near my left ear (so hard that my ear was ringing for about a minute or two). Straight away, I could feel a hard pea-sized lump (if you place your finger behind your ear, then trace down towards the middle) - it s located near where the tip of your finger is now (between the back of your ear and where your hairline begins). I assumed it was just swollen at first, but it doesn t seem to have gone down at all. It still smarts a bit when I touch it (and sometimes even when I don t). Did a google search and I m pretty sure it s the temporal bone.. Please help!
