My blood pressure is 160/82, is this healthy ? I just took my blood pressure medicine this morning, I have been feeling weird for the last half and hour so I checked it and thats what it was. Should I call the doctor? I am 28 years old. My blood pressure used to be much higher when I was pregnant. It hasn t been this high in a while. Oh, yeah! I have a really bad headache and I never get headaches. i just wanted to know some other opinions before I over reacted. thaks!
That pressure is somewhat high if you are only 28 and are currently taking meds for it. Have you been under alot of stress today? that can cause a headache and a rise in bp. i'd say that since you are medicated for it and you are presenting with symptoms (headache), I'd go to the ER to get checked; there could be something going on that you wont be able to know without proper tests. Also, as for the people telling you to take your bp at least two or three times, don't. at least not in the same arm without awhile in between because when you take your bp the cuff squeezes your arteries and they constrict. the more you take it the more they constrict, resulting in a higher reading each time. you need to give your arteries some time to expand back to normal diameter.just a tip. Also, it is better and more accurate to have your bp taken by someone trained to do it as apposed to an automatic one...
