You have got stage 1 hypertension. The normal is < 120/80 mm Hg. Is it pregnancy related?
Hypertension is sustained elevation of resting systolic BP (? 140 mm Hg), diastolic BP (? 90 mm Hg), or both. Hypertension with no known cause (primary; formerly, essential hypertension) is most common. Hypertension with an identified cause (secondary hypertension) is usually due to a renal disorder. Usually, no symptoms develop unless hypertension is severe or long-standing. Diagnosis is by sphygmomanometry. Tests may be done to determine cause, assess damage, and identify other cardiovascular risk factors. Treatment involves lifestyle changes and drugs, including diuretics, ? - blockers, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers, and Ca channel blockers.

hello, my question is how does the drug atenolol work and is this a safe drug. I was in the ER and not feeling well and they gave me this drug. i spent years trying to get my blood pressure normal and nothing was working untill they gave this drug to me. was 222 over 116 in hospital now its 127 over 74 how could this be. my normal for years would be about 180 over 90. Mind you Iam not complaining if this is for real and it stays that low.
I bought an Omron blood pressure monitor have just taken my first blood pressure reading. Then nine more readings as I was quite shocked by the readings. Five readings off each arm. Systolic ranged from 97 to 101. mostly 98 and 99. Diastolic ranged from 58 to 65. mostly 62 and 63. They seem awfully low. I wanted to ensure I didn t have high blood pressure but now find its lower than normal which I m told is around 120/80. I vaguely remember having it check years ago by a GP and I think he said something like 120 or 130 over 70 or 80. He died a few years back, so there is no way I can confirm that. Could this be a problem? Why so low? Comments?

Hi I have a BP monitor at home . Right now my reading is 130/86. I have a Bicuspic valve. Today I have been put on a low dose of BP medication after my clinic measured my BP at 151/113. This was taken immediately on arrival at the clinic after walking from the car park and a rather stressfull car journey. Am I right to be concerned about the starting medication on this evidence? .. I have recently had my personel BP monitor calybrated ..AGE 50 thank you
