What Could Be The Cause For Sudden Loss Of Appetite And Lower Abdominal Pain In A Child?

My 7 year old daughter has had low appetite all day and has just started having a sudden onset of pain on her upper right abdomen, under her rib , in her gallbladder area. I am just concerned as mostly everyone in my family had had to have theirs removed, so im unsire if I need to take her into the emergency room or not.

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

I do not think it is an emergency but if she develops bilious vomiting or abdominal distension, high-grade fever with chills and rigors then it is an emergency.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Sumanth Amperayani, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
