Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Mother living with me is a few weeks away from turning 103. Is under hospice care. Breathing is faint-uses oxygen when in bed. Gets up to eat and sit in chair using a walker. Uses walker to go to bathroom. Becoming very weak, eating very little. Has caregiver weekdays in mornings. Someone always goes to bathroom with her as fear she will fall. Problem has been getting up 6-7 times at night thinking has to pee. Usually is not much. Was treated for UTI a couple weeks ago-only 3 days of antibiotic. Did not change frequency of getting up. Now has hospital bed-sleeps a little longer between getting up. Wondering about giving her harmless sleep aid like Tylenol & Benedryl-something to calm her bladder and help her sleep most of night without creating side effects or other harm.
