Moderate Lesions On Face, Chest, Arms And Back, Hair Loss Problem, Acne Since Puberty. Advise ?

Hi, I am a 31 yr old woman who has had acne since puberty . Even now, I still have moderate lesions on my face, chest , arms and back. They do not itch . Over the past 3-4 years, I have started noticing a LOT of hair fall. My hair volume has reduced to a fourth of the volume I had initially. My periods are very regular and I have an active lifestyle where I walk more than 40 mins a day, my weight is 64 kgs and my height is 5 ft, 3 inch. Last year, after reading about hair loss , I started making licorice tea at home by boiling the root. After drinking this infusion, my hair loss reduced almost completely. But once I stopped taking it, the hair fall came back. Please advice.

Hi there.
At the outset, is there some reason you stopped liquorice tea? In my humble opinion, if the shoe fits, wear it..please get back to it if you find it helps. As regards your history..married? single? On any oral contraceptives? other medications? weight gain, irregular periods, heavy bleeding? As for the acne bit, both acne & hair loss have to be 'asessed' by a dermatologist before prescribing medication as to what 'type' of acne or hair loss it is. Only then can any specific medication & advice be rendered. General advice would be to use a 'broad toothed comb' & avoid handling hair too often & RESTRICT SHAMPOOING HAIR to twice/week only. Also a good face cleansing routine & avoidance of 'pinching' of acne lesions is paramount! Please do upload good clear photos of the acne lesions & /or hair fall & would be happy to advice specifics. Should you wish discretion, please click on my name & consult direct online using our premier 'ask-a-doctor' feature or come across to any of my clinics in Bangalore. If you wish to indicate which part of the world you hail from, would be happy to point out a good dermatologist in your area. Cheers & good luck!
