Missed Typhoid Vaccine, Lab Report Positive For Sal Typhi. How Long Will It Take To Recover?
Dear Doctor my daughter is 9 years old.i missed the typhoid vaccine which has to be administer 2 months back. 1 month she is having intermittent fever. today the lab report show that sal typhi o +ve in 1 in 160 dilution , sal typhi h +ve in1 in 80 dilution , sal para typhi ah -ve ,sal para typhi bh -ve. tomorrow i am going to consult a paediatrician. will be there any problem for my child. how long it takes for her to recover?

This lab report is not 100% diagnostic for typhoid. Blood culture is gold standard. Widal report can come falsely positive because of infection occurred 4 months back.But in India all long standing fevers without focus are by default treated as malaria and typhoid initially. In your case since fever is coming since 1 month,additional lab investigations will be required (like CBC ESR PS for mp sgpt create blood cultures urine culture x ray chest 2d echo USG and MT)
